Equine Portraits with Chloe + Devon
When I was growing up, one of my favorite books ever was Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. I remember when I was 10 or 11 years old I read that book THREE times in a row within a couple months. I pretty much became obsessed with horses after that. I wanted one so bad. Around this same time, I got to go to summer camp and of course I wanted to do every horseback riding activity they had for the week! What little girl doesn't want her own pony?
Now, I am lucky enough to have friends who show horses, take care of them and also want a photo session with them ;) I was so excited the Chloe wanted to do this! I have never photographed horses or done any kind of equine photography but I was so ready to try. And the thought of an equine session in the desert just makes my heart sing!
When I saw a photo of the horse for the shoot, my jaw dropped. It was just like Black Beauty that I read in my book! I was SO excited. Devon is a Friesian Stallion and a serious champion. You can find more of his accomplishments and information here. He was one of the sweetest and most gentle horses I have ever met. Chloe was an amazing model for me all while riding bareback, a true natural! We had an amazing location for golden hour to capture all of the glowing light and this has quickly become one of my favorite sessions to date!
