The Walkers - Papago Park, Arizona

I was casually checking my email one day when I saw I had a new message. It was from Rachel, a photographer who lives in Seattle but explained how she and her husband were visiting Arizona in February. She told me she found me on Instagram through my hashtags! HALLELUJAH THEY WORK! She was looking for a session while she was visiting and asked if I’d be open to a portrait swap. “Of course!” I screamed at my computer! I emailed her back and we talked about our availability in the short time she was here and luckily we were able to make it work! From the beginning of our email thread, I knew she was going to be fun to photograph!

I love taking portraits of other photographers. There is a certain ease to it that I love. There are also things that photographers do to make clients feel comfortable in front of the camera and Rachel and her husband just knew how to work it without me telling them anything.

I was so happy to be able to trade this session with Rachel! You can check out her work here!

Photographer Tip: It’s never a bad idea to search location hashtags on social media if you are going on vacation somewhere! Seek out photographers who work at your destination and feel free to email them about photographing a session for you while you are visiting. It’s a great way to create memories with your loved ones that aren’t only caught on a cell phone.
